Freedom Wheels Twilight Ride and Treasure Hunt
Over the years our Freedom Wheels program has enabled many hundreds of people, mainly children with disabilities, to experience the freedom, joy and physical activity of bicycle riding.
In 2017 we thought: What if we were to invite all those riders to a special afternoon where they could all get together with their families and their bike and ride interesting trails in a safe environment.
And so our Freedom Wheels Family Fun Ride was conceived.
A sunny and warm October afternoon provided the perfect atmosphere for our Pirate-themed afternoon at the picturesque Kuljak Island at Ascot Waters.
We brought along a truckload of bikes and trikes for people to try, as well as prizes, balloons courtesy of our friends at Bendigo Bank, and a gourmet wood fired pizza maker!
All the kids – and their parents – and the many TADWA staff who helped set up and run the day – enjoyed the afternoon. We’re now exploring other TADWA Community ideas for the coming year.
