About us
Technology for Ageing and Disability WA (TADWA) has served the Western Australian community for more than 40 years, supporting people to live life their way, regardless of age or ability. The organisation works alongside older people and people with disability to understand what matters most and design personalised solutions that make everyday life safer, more comfortable and more fulfilling.
Vision: People living life their way, regardless of age or ability.
Mission: Delivering high-quality, person-centred services and solutions so people can live life their way.
Values (STAR): TADWA is guided by its STAR values – Sustainable, Transformational, Accountable and Respectful – which shape decision-making, team culture and service delivery.
Occupational Therapy: Occupational therapists are central to the TADWA experience. They work with customers to understand their goals, assess their environment and recommend practical solutions that reduce barriers to everyday living. This may include assistive technology, mobility solutions or home modifications that support independence and confidence.
Home Modifications: Home modifications create safer, more accessible living environments that support everyday routines and participation at home. From handrails and ramps to bathroom upgrades and other accessibility improvements, each modification is designed around the individual.
Recreation and Mobility: Recreation and mobility services include modified bikes and trikes, vehicle modifications and wheelchair hoists that support active and connected living in the community.
Technology and Digital Inclusion: TADWA also delivers technology and computer services focused on digital inclusion, enabling customers to access devices and technology support so they can stay connected, explore interests and access information with confidence.
At TADWA, the focus is not just the solution, but what people want to do with it – strengthening independence, participation and the ability to live life their way.
Part of TAD Australia
TADWA is part of TAD Australia, a national network of state-based organisations that collaborate to share expertise and innovation in assistive technology solutions across the country.

Our Story
TADWA’s journey began in the in 1984 when a group of volunteers – originally telecommunications workers – recognised the barriers faced by people with vision and hearing impairments and began modifying telephones to make communication easier. What started as a grassroots effort to adapt equipment for one person grew into a charitable organisation dedicated to enabling independence, participation and choice for people of all abilities.
Over time, TADWA evolved into a multi-disciplinary organisation with a strong reputation for practical innovation and person-centred practice. While our capabilities have expanded, our purpose has remained constant: to partner with people to identify barriers and create meaningful solutions that support everyday living.
Guided by lived experience, professional expertise and community partnerships, TADWA continues to adapt to changing needs, emerging technologies and new ways of supporting people to remain independent and connected. Our story is shaped by the individuals we work alongside – their goals, their environments, and what matters most in their daily lives.
That partnership remains at the heart of everything we do – supporting people to live Life Your Way.
