Bayswater man Adrian Walsh suffered a catastrophic crash while mountain biking with friends in June 2017. The resulting c5-c7 spinal injury changed his life in an instant – he has limited movement from the shoulders down and has embarked on a long road to regain strength, movement and independence.
The enormous change to Adrian’s life hasn’t just impacted him; his wife Nhi and three young children Lily, Piper and Ryder (10, 8 and 6) have all had to make huge adjustments.
Walshy, as he is known, is described by those who know him best as a devoted and loving family man, a man with a big heart, who embraces the beauty and richness of life, friends and family. An elite downhill racer for over 20 years, he is a well-known and respected member of the WA mountain biking community, winning numerous titles including two Masters National gold medals.
The way the Bayswater and mountain bike communities have rallied around the Walsh family is a testament to the sort of man he is.
